Welcome fellow Disney cosplay fan!
"Cosplay" (short for "costume play") is an expressive performance art in which participants make and wear costumes and accessories to represent particular characters from comics, movies, TV shows, etc. If you have been to a comic book convention you probably saw some people dressed up in costumes of heroes and villains from comic books and posing for pictures with fans. Those people were doing cosplay!
Some cosplayers who become skilled at acting, makeup, costumes, or props go on to have careers as professionals in the film or television industries.
The Disney Cosplay Guild is for people who enjoy creating and/or wearing and showing off Disney character costumes! (And due to Disney's recent business acquisitions, this now includes Star Wars and Marvel characters, as well as all of the classic Disney characters!)
We hold meetups to learn and share about costume and prop making methods and materials, to help each other with our costume creations and photography, and to create events where we can wear and show off our costumes! Visit our Meetup group by clicking here!
You do not need to be a costume maker or creator to join the group. Many people just enjoy buying costumes from Disney outlets or costume stores, or from costume specialists. Everyone is welcome here!
We also have created a large forum, where we can discuss all things Disney and cosplay! Visit our forum by clicking here!
Our big annual event is called DisCosCon (short for Disney Cosplay Convention), which will be held in the spring of 2014 in Anaheim. Lots more info on this fun and exciting event coming soon!
